Mis recuerdos no suelen ser lineales. Ni siquera están formados por hechos concretos, sino más bien por sensaciones, probablemente bastante alejadas de la realidad. Pero dudo que esto sólo me suceda a mí.
El pasado sábado pude volver a disfrutar de otro concierto del Maestro en Valencia, concierto que por otro lado esperaba como agua de… mayo. Hablar de los momentos previos al mismo sería incluso surrealista, especialmente teniendo en cuenta que en cuestión de media hora pasé de estar viendo y escuchando a Rodolfo Chiquilicuatre en la pantalla del bar sito junto a la sala Wah Wah, a tener delante de mis narices algo totalmente distinto. Ya en pie de sala, justo en la puerta, me topé con el gran Manolo Bertrán (Doctor Divago) que cargaba con un vinilo de su último disco (más info en www.doctordivago.com). Me dirigí a él sin más miramientos.

- Sí... ¿y tú quién eres?
Dió comienzo entonces la explicación en forma de recordatorio de aquel concierto apoteósico que dieron en Alicante un par de años atrás. La crónica del mismo, por cierto, anda por este blog.
- Pues aquí estamos, para ver al Maestro.
Ellos, Doctor Divago, habían hecho una presentación de su último disco -Las canciones del año que viene- precisamente esa misma tarde, en la Fnac de Valencia. Presentación a la que no pude asistir por circunstancias ajenas al guión...
Cada concierto de Lapido es único. Con este van cuatro para mí y sin embargo, me sabe con la misma o mayor intensidad que el primero. Tal vez puede ser difícil de entender mi falta de objetividad para quienes hubieran preferido otra set list, un mejor manejo de tal o cual instrumento, mejor acústica, más bises o cualquier otra cosa. El caso es que para mí el simple hecho de vivirlo, de estar ahí, ya es todo un acontecimiento.
Me sorprendieron los temas escogidos, y me sorprendieron gratamente. A muchos les sorprendió que Lapido no se ciñera tanto a los temas de su último disco (en cualquier caso, sonaron unos ocho temas del mismo) pero lo que yo digo es que los discos están hechos para escucharlos en casa, cómo y cuanto a uno le plazca.
Los conciertos… son otra historia.
No pudo empezar de forma más irónica que con esa irreconocible –al menos para mí- “Me voy”, que durante un buen rato me dejó perpleja hasta que adiviné, por el estribillo, que se trataba de este tema. Los focos daban a la sala un ambiente rojizo, como de cabaret, y Lapido hizo acto de presencia con su habitual look de rockero de los de antes, de los de verdad. Todos aplaudimos con emoción cuando el grupo tomó sus instrumentos, dispuestos a darnos lo mejor. Un pequeño percance empañó este empeño –valga la redundancia- cuando fallaron los teclados y Raúl no pudo lucir del todo su destreza musical. Sin embargo apenas lo notamos, al menos no en mi caso, Lapido hizo un gesto despreocupado cuando todos podíamos notar su preocupación y la música siguió sonando. Son las cosas del directo.
Me costó bien poco ir dando rienda suelta a mis instintos musicales más bajos. Una al final se acabó dejando llevar y me dejaron de importar las posibles consecuencias derivadas de maltratar mis cuerdas vocales mediante tanto berrido irracional. Y doy gracias a que estoy en forma, de otro modo casi con total seguridad hubiera amanecido con unas fuertes agujetas de tanto saltar.
Ya decía al principio que mis recuerdos no son lineales. Tras el concierto, y en un arrebato nada premeditado, aproveché para felicitar por el concierto a Víctor que, por cierto, estuvo tremendo sobre el escenario, comprometido con su guitarra y con el grupo como siempre, sacándole los mejores alaridos a su instrumento. Confieso que mi timidez extrema –tal vez si hubiera bebido más- y las ganas de todos nosotros de compartir impresiones con la banda me frenaron mucho a la hora de dirigirme a ellos. Me asustaba la idea de abrumarlos en caso de ponerme estupenda en exceso. No tenía ningunas ganas de que me tomaran por loca, y menos por una loca gruppie. Sin embargo algo así debí parecer cuando, tras una dura búsqueda y captura de single –que por cierto, ya tenía, pero que había olvidado llevar al concierto- y habiendo comprobado que no quedaba ni un puñetero cartel del concierto en toda la sala, avasallé al pobre José Ignacio justo en el instante en el que pretendía darle el primer sorbo a su gin-tonic –creo-. Siempre he tenido el don de la oportunidad.
Tras unas frases inconexas y atropelladas a lo Maestro Yoda, en las que le felicité por el concierto, y otras lindeces varias, como darle dos besos a destiempo o decirle cómo me llamo después de… en fin, ya dije que fueron inconexas. Decía que tras estas frases conseguí que me firmara el single y me quedé con esa cara de pánfila que ponen los entendidos en arte cuando ven un cuadro abstracto que vale un pastón. Pero estaba feliz, me había salido con la mía.
El concierto fue apoteósico, eléctrico hasta decir basta y sonó rotundo, realmente potente. Me encantó. El repertorio, el sonido, el grupo, el ambiente… todo. El repaso a toda la discografía lapidiana me pareció bastante acertado. Desde el sorprendente comienzo que ya comenté, seguido de “Alguien vendrá” para a continuación abordar de lleno el último disco con “En el ángulo muerto”. Canción que es 100% Lapido, a todo esto.
Modo friki on, he de decir que me llamó muchísimo la atención que se incluyeran en la set list canciones como “Luz de ciudades en llamas” y “No queda nadie en la ciudad” porque personalmente, cuando escucho “Cuando el ángel decida volver” me evoca precisamente esas dos canciones. Curioso.
Si hablamos de momentos mágicos, cuando sonó “Esta noche” -091- se produjo un ambiente especial, aunque no sabría definir por qué y posiblemente eso precisamente es lo que hace del momento algo único. Y cómo no mencionar “La noche que la Luna salió tarde” -091-, cuya letra –otro momento anecdótico de la noche- erró el Maestro, recordándonos que es humano, después de todo. No faltaron otros temas de los cero ya habituales en su repertorio como “Zapatos de piel de caimán”, “Qué fue del siglo XX” o "Espejismo nº8".
Pero no haré un repaso de todo el repertorio por dos motivos. Tengo memoria de pez y mis recuerdos, insisto, no son lineales. Así como vienen, se van, de forma totalmente imprevisible.
Sólo eché en falta una cosa: “La canción del espantapájaros”. ¿Tendré el privilegio de escucharla en Madrid a manos de Lapido y su banda? Sigo esperando el milagro.
Y otra duda-deseo: ¿Tocarán la cara B del single, "La mitad de nada"? Ese solo final de guitarras tiene que tener un directo bestial. Crucemos los dedos y recemos alguna oración, por si acaso.
A modo de cierre sólo diré que de camino de regreso, en mi cabeza, todavía flotaban fantasías de rock ‘n’ roll.
